Do you own a 1998 or newer Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, Oldsmobile or Pontiac with an erratic and failing Fuel Gauge? Have you or some one in your family run out of gas because of this problem?

Tri Starr Has the Solution.

We have heard many people guess at what the problem is. Some say that it is the additives found in todays modern fuels. Others say that if you use their special store bought products, off the shelf, you can fix your problem. Neither are true. The problem lies within the design of General Motors Fuel Tank Level Sensor.

Your Fuel Tank Level Sensor is located inside your fuel tank mounted on the side of the fuel pump. The units design is basically a ceramic wiper board with 2 small spring steel brushes that move back and forth across it's surface, varying the resistance from 40 ohms empty to 240 ohms full. What fails is the spring steel brushes. The tips of these brushes that contact the ceramic wiper board, prematurely wear out. The more they wear, the more erratic your fuel gauge readings become, eventually failing all together. No store bought additive is going to fix this problem.

The only way to solve this problem is to replace the Fuel Tank Level Sensor. If you go back to GM they will most likely try to sell you a new modular fuel pump assembly, Very Expensive. And the Level Sensor on your new unit is designed the same way your original level sensor was- with defective steel brushes. Here at Tri Starr our replacement Fuel Tank Level Sensors have been redesigned using Copper Brushes for longer life. These sensors are a direct fit replacement part backed by a 1 year warrantee.
